Gary Berg-Cross is a senior board member of TruthAndPolitics.org.
Dr. Berg-Cross is a cognitive psychologist (BA 1967) from
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a PhD in experimental cognitive
psychology (1974) from SUNY Stony Brook. Broadly, his work concerns the
nature of knowledge, understanding and communication of knowledge and belief.
He has worked at SUNY Stony Brook and Widener University.
Since 1975 he has consulted on knowledge management and application
of cognitive science to organizational problems. Major thrusts of work
include reusable medical knowledge, ontologies, controlled vocabularies
and expert decision making. Dr. Berg-Cross is chief technical
officer of Knowledge Strategies, a knowledge consulting practice,
and has participated in a number of
standards development efforts dealing with information repositories and
applied enterprise modeling methodologies. He has managed programs at a
number of technology companies including ADS,
SAIC,
Booz Allen, Prism,
Ardent and Informix.
Recent work at the
National Institutes of Health
includes use of web technology to represent,
visualize and disseminate information. His publications include work in
both theoretical cognitive psychology, applied artificial intelligence
covering areas of knowledge representation, heuristic problem solving,
case-based reasoning and measurements of intelligence in agents. He has
designed, prototyped and several "intelligent systems" and is
involved in usability and computer human interface design.
Stephen Fromm is the editor and founder of TruthAndPolitics.org.
Dr. Fromm was educated at Princeton University (AB, mathematics, 1986)
and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (PhD, mathematics, 1992).
He has held positions at McMaster University, the University of Wyoming,
and CONSAD Research Corporation
(a public policy consulting firm). Most
recently, Fromm was a research fellow at the
National Institutes of Health,
working with a group studying the cognition of language using functional
magnetic resonance imaging. He has published in the fields of
mathematics, cognitive science and human brain mapping, and
biochemistry.
